simulated by HYCOM with hybrid
vertical coordinates are qualitatively
very similar. The subtropical gyre
simulated by HYCOM in MICOM
mode is not as strong as in the other
simulations. The subtropical gyre
strength in the hybrid coordinate
simulation is in closer agreement
with observations.
