The
 winter (Feb. 15) meridional
 overturning
 circulation is graphed for
 six
 HYCOM simulations as a function
 of
 latitude and density. The five
 simulations
 without relaxation BC’s
 are
 very similar to each other.
 Relaxation
 BC’s clearly enhance the
 meridional
 overturning circulation and
 induces
 a deep circulation cell
 associated
 with the northward flow
 of
 bottom water. A significant seasonal
 cycle
exists at low latitudes, with an
 enhanced
 winter circulation cell evident
 between
0 and 20N in all simulations.
