Global 0.5x0.5 Degree Gridded Monthly Fields of QSCAT Winds
Monthly fields of pseudo-stress are produced using an average of daily fields produced with a variational approach (direct minimization) with
tuning parameters determined using Generalized Cross-Validation (GCV). These products are on a 0.5x0.5 grid. The scatterometer winds, and these
gridded winds, are calibrated to a height of 10 m. This approach utilizes the only QuikSCAT wind observations processed by RSS, and filtered with
a rain flag. The wind field are a research quality data set.
